This site presents an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the local streetscape. It occupies a large corner plot in a great High Street, currently blighted by light industrial units. However, the planning authority has aspirations for the site to be reinvented as an important piece of the local streetscape.
Our approach is to create a contemporary building, which uses traditonal scale, materials and forms to break down the mass and integrate itself into the rhythm of the streetscape. It creates spaces on the pavement that enhance the public domain. Despite it's modest appearance, the building contains a large retail unit, car park and offices above.
